our candidate
Whitney Clarke, 36, is a dedicated husband and father of two, married in 2019. He lives in Detroit, Michigan, and is deeply committed to building a stronger, more vibrant city for families and future generations.
With over a decade of advocacy experience, Whitney served as a Child Advocate with the Children’s Defense Fund from 2009–2014 and returned as a volunteer in 2024. He also serves as a board member for the Living Waters Community Development Corporation and as Church Administrator and Minister of Music at Oasis of Hope Church in Detroit.
Whitney is running for City Council District 5 to fight for tax justice, improve public schools, and strengthen essential city services. He’s dedicated to making sure major projects like the Ford development and I-375 Community Reconnection Project benefit all Detroiters through transparency and accountability.
His campaign is about resetting Detroit’s political landscape, shifting focus from personalities to real solutions. Whitney’s bold vision prioritizes inclusive growth and empowers every resident to share in Detroit’s progress and future success.
